Meet Dr. Tiffany Louie

Dr. Tiffany Louie smiling outdoors with long dark hair at Delta Smiles in Antioch and Brentwood, CA

Dr. Tiffany Louie is an orthodontist at Delta Smiles, seeing patients at both our Antioch and Brentwood offices. She was born and raised in Hayward, went to UCLA for her bachelor’s, and came home to the Bay Area for her dental and orthodontic training at UCSF. Treating families in the region she grew up in is a large part of why she does this work here and not anywhere else.

Passionate About Transforming Smiles

For Dr. Louie, orthodontics offers the unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on patients’ lives. She finds great fulfillment in helping people achieve smiles they feel proud to share with the world.

Throughout her career, Dr. Louie has had the privilege of practicing in highly respected orthodontic offices and working with diverse patient populations. She values the relationships she builds with patients and families and is committed to creating a positive, supportive experience throughout every stage of treatment.

Education and Training

Degree or credentialInstitution
BS, Psychology-Biology (with business and computer specializations)University of California, Los Angeles
Doctor of Dental SurgeryUniversity of California, San Francisco
Omicron Kappa Upsilon, national dental honor societyUniversity of California, San Francisco
Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial OrthopedicsUniversity of California, San Francisco
MS, Orofacial SciencesUniversity of California, San Francisco

Election to Omicron Kappa Upsilon rests on academic standing and character, and it is awarded to a limited number of each graduating class. Her residency and master’s work at UCSF covered diagnosis, dentofacial growth and bite correction in depth. That is the training that separates an orthodontist from a general dentist offering aligners.

She is also a published researcher. While at UCSF she was the first author of a peer-reviewed study on laser dentistry published in the Journal of Biomedical Optics and indexed in the National Library of Medicine.

How She Treats Patients

Dr. Louie’s approach starts with explaining things properly. A parent who understands why an expander comes before braces makes better decisions. A teenager who understands what wear time does to a timeline usually wears the aligners.

She is unhurried with nervous patients. Children who arrive expecting an ordeal usually find it isn’t one, largely because she narrates what she is doing before she does it. Adults who have avoided dental care for years get the same treatment, without the lecture.

Where Her Training Does the Most Work

Growth guidance in children is where Dr. Louie’s residency training in dentofacial development does the most work. Deciding whether a nine-year-old needs an expander now or a full course of braces at thirteen is a judgment call with real consequences, and it rests on reading growth correctly rather than on reading teeth.

Adult treatment is the other half. Many adults arrive believing their case is either impossible or embarrassing, and it is usually neither. Teeth that drifted after a first round of braces are a common adult case, and the correction often comes quickly.

Staying Current

Dr. Louie keeps current through continuing education, and she reads the evidence before adopting a new technique, not after. The practice holds memberships in the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Association of Orthodontists and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.

Outside the Office

She has three energetic children who keep her up to date on music, dance moves and whatever the internet has decided matters this month. Family time comes first: movie nights, game nights, travel when the calendar allows.

Quiet hours go to crafts and baking. She decorates sugar cookies, seriously and well.
